It was designed during the urban redevelopment that was carried out after Rome became the capital of Italy. Piazza della Repubblica is one of the main squares of the city; it is impressive indeed. What meets the eye at Piazza della Repubblica is essentially a large roundabout with a beautiful fountain in it—Fontana delle Naiadi surrounded on one side by some imposing buildings and on the other, what appears to be a temple under demolition.

The Quirinal Palace (Italian: Palazzo del Quirinale or simply Quirinale) is a historical house at Rome, Italy. It belongs to three present houses of the President of the Italian Republic along with Villa Rosebery at Naples and Tenuta di Castelporziano at Rome. The building is on the Quirinal Hill, which ranks as the highest among Rome’s seven hills in a place informally known as Monte Cavallo. The thirty Popes have been here; four Kings of Italy and twelve presidents of the Italian Republic have all made their stay here.

Trevi Fountain is the greatest beauty of all the fountains in Rome. This makes Trevi also the largest fountain within that city‚ measuring some 20 meters wide by 26 meters high. The origins of this fountain go back to the year 19 B.C. when it was actually at that time the ending part of Aqua Virgo aqueduct. It was during Renaissance years, under Pope Nicholas V’s direction, that the first fountain took shape here. Essentially what one sees as Trevi Fountain today dates back to about 1762 when after works going on for many years finally were completed by Giuseppe Pannini based on designs by Nicola Salvi. What does seem rather interesting is that ‘Trevi’ actually comes from ‘Tre Vie’ or three ways since it happens to be at a meeting point for three streets.

Among the architectural masterpieces of the Italian capital, the Pantheon of Agrippa is perhaps the best-preserved examples of ancient Roman architecture; more correctly, it should be referred to as the Roman Pantheon. Built in 126 AD, this structure has a beautiful circular opening at its top through which sunlight streams in to light up the interior.

St. Peter's Square (also known as Piazza San Pietro) is probably one of the most famous and breathtaking squares in the world. Located in Vatican City, at the foot of St. Peter's Basilica, it was designed by Bernini in the 17th century and can accommodate more than 300,000 people.

Janiculum Hill is perhaps the eighth hill of Rome, at least in the considered opinion of many and is a very nice way to get away from Rome. It’s a great attraction right outside the old city and visitors are drawn to it just to take a break from the city noise. Oh, and did I mention that the view from the peak is to die for? Yeah, as you wind your way up its paths, you’ll soak in excellent panoramas of the city. Janiculum gained popularity due to its significant historic function in the fortification of the city. A very good place for an ambush against French troops, here’s where Garibaldi repelled an attack setting the scene with a war of attrition against thousands of sculptures of heroes, including Giuseppe Garibaldi.

The big, imposing building at Piazza Venezia erected in homage of Victor Emmanuel II. This has a few good vantage points to view Rome from. This enormous building started in 1911 was to remember the first king of Italy after joining them, King Victor Emmanuel II. Inside are kept the Institute for the History of Italian Risorgimento and Central Museum of Risorgimento. The unknown fighter’s tomb has been here since 1921 with an eternal flame that burns unfalteringly under the gaze of two guards.Apple
